The part of you that wants to stay the same

Resistance may be trying to preserve a belonging, a protection, or a promise made long ago.

The wish to change is rarely alone. Beside it is often a part that wants everything to remain exactly as it is.

We can meet this resistance as laziness or sabotage. Or we can become curious about its loyalty.

Perhaps the old pattern once protected belonging. Perhaps visibility brought danger. Perhaps wanting less kept the peace. Perhaps the identity you are leaving was built with great intelligence under different conditions.

The resistant part may not need to be defeated. It may need to know that change will not require its exile.

What does it believe would happen if you changed? What value is it trying to preserve? Can that value travel forward in another form?

Growth becomes less like a takeover when the old strategy is thanked for what it attempted. We do not have to keep giving it the same job. But we can let it retire with dignity.
